Indira
Park is situated in the Lower Tank bund of Hyderabad city. Indira Park
is the newly built park of Hyderabad. Indira Park is spread over 76
acres of lush green area and it lies alongside the Hussain Sagar. Late
Faqruddin Ahmed, the then President of India, laid the foundation stone
for Indira Park in September 1975. It was opened for the public in the
year 1978 with comprehensive scenery. It is named after the former Prime
Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. It is one of the oldest parks in
Hyderabad.It is a pleasant entertainment park for not only the tourists but also the people residing near the Park. The landscaping of Indira Park was very exceptionally planned and designed, without disturbing the natural elements already present in Park such as wild date palms, keuvda plantations and beautiful Sandalwood trees. The Park also homes fruit plants like mango, kala jamun (Indian Blackberry). There is also a canteen which stocks cool drinks and snacks in case anyone feels hungry. In 1994, computerized Musical Dancing Fountains and waterfalls, commercial nursery and rose garden were added as further attractions to enhance the beauty of the Park.
One can also visit the nearby temple known as Katta Maisama. Kids can try their hand at skating at the skating arena that lies just adjacent to the Park. The Park also has a small pond and offers boating facilities to keep you amused.
